I have two problems with the Hibernate. First, it muffles noises but they are still quite louud--so the mask might work for someone who still wants to hear the baby wake up, but I am retired, and I don't want to hear t.v. or voices from another room. Second, the velcro has to be quite firmly stretched around the head. Two problems there...a. The velcro catches in my hair! My hair is already a mess! But velcro tangles it and also breaks it when you finallly get yourself disentanbled. b. In order to get a fair seal on the ear muffs, the velcro has to be too tight. I love the light design, the smooth fabric, and I was so happy to find this, but it's back in the box--I don't suppose you'd take it back?
I see it as working better for a man with short hair on an airplane than a retired English teacher trying to silence the world for a little while. I'd like suggest a thinner band around the head with the velcro over the side piece--the band could have a strip of pseudo lambskin if that is more comfortable for the head. Then the attachment would take place over the ear, where less hair would be caught. I'd also like to suggest you look at the the 3-M complete silencing ear muffs. I don't know the model. They are made of metal and plastic--something you wear when airplanes are coming in, and you are the airplane guide on the ground. These fit over the head with a tight bar that lliterally clamps the earmuffs to the head. I'm not suggeting the bar, but the muffs themselves seem to be absolutely acoustically silent. Thanks for the design--I know it will work for someone, but for me, I can't use them at all. If you could call me, we could talk about if I can send them back to you. MAry 330-472-8086
For years the only thing I could find that would block out enough noise was construction headphones. Needless to say they were extremely uncomfortable to the point where I developed neck issues.
The Hibermate Sleep Mask is definitely a much better option in terms of comfort and it accomplishes reducing the noise of my husband's constant snoring.
I'm a nurse who works night shift, and I've done a crapload of research on sleep aids and circadian rhythms. The Hibermate Sleep Mask is wonderfully effective for darkness and minimizing noise. No, it will not eliminate as much noise as ear plugs. But ear plugs (plus the common use of audio ear buds) do not allow the unnoticed but necessary elimination of "ear wax"; and that leads to ear wax impactions! "White noise" is helpful, but white noise can also be annoying. The REAL ticket was a device that could comfortably cancel out all light and eliminate most noise. I've worn my Hibermate nightly for the past month, and I also have a fan running for "white noise" so my dog will not bark at outdoor noises or a knock on the door. The Hibermate cancels out the "white noise." Like anything new, it takes getting used to and finding just the right adjustments for a perfect fit. I've grown very comfortable with the bulk of the ear pads when I sleep on my side, but occasionally move the pillow up just enough for the ear pad to have a little open space, resulting in less pressure. Honestly, this is a good quality serious product for anyone who is serious about needing sleep. I'm grateful to the Hibermate folks for their thoughtful research and development on this product. And somehow, they have even kept it amazingly affordable and fun to look at. Keep up the good work!!!
Fortunately I bought them using PayPal. I had to ask for the tracking number one week later, since they hadn't sent them. Then, coincidentally, It got shipped that same day. But it was useless because the package got stuck on September 26th in Germany. All I got was a refund and no explanation. And I say fortunately because I googled for others reviews and found out everybody complains on it being useless, uncomfortable, made with cheap materials and many other bad reviews. So I guess not having even heard a " sorry, we'll send another package for you" is a blessing after all.
I live in an apartment that sometimes has noisy neighbors or a noisy roommate. When I put these ear muffs on, I cannot hear a thing. If someone were in my room making lots of noise, like snoring, I'd probably still hear them, but that's to be expected for ear muffs.
Also, it's good for eliminating the noise of pets. I have a cat that scratches my door at night sometimes, but I never hear the cat when my ear muffs are on.
The product is comfortable to wear. If you wish to sleep directly on the side of your head, it takes some getting used to, but it is not so uncomfortable that you cannot sleep. I find it better to sleep with my head at an angle or let the ear muff sit in between two pillows (which may be an idea to sell with this product, a small doughnut shaped pillow). Any position where I'm not directly on my ear is best.
The mask is comfortable. The tightness or looseness is up to you. It blocks all light.
I don't use this product every single night, but when things get noisey, I used to bury my head in a pillow. Now I just put these ear muffs on and I know that I will not be disturbed for the rest of the night.
I also get migraines now and then and abusing OTC drugs can lead to problems long term... so sleeping aparatus like this always cure a migraine for me.
The bottom line is that this is an excellent product and I will be surprised to find one developed any better, but I'm sure it can as anything can. This product gives a "cozy" feeling, so it may even be good for people with insomnia, but that would need to be verified. If you want to sleep without disturbance from outside noise... Buy this product!
It does the trick, and some aspects of it are good (the strap is solid and grips firmly, the mask is soft, dark and good). But the ear muffs are annoying: too hard, too big, they make sleeping on the side quite awkward, if at all possible (and the added muffs don't change this, unfortunately). They also feel very bulky and hot. I'm mostly sleeping on my back these days, but still the experience is not entirely comfortable.
In 2014 i started working night shift and I could not sleep in the days. Even when im in day shift i found it hard to get a sleep after my body clock was messed up by changing shifts every now and then. I started googling to find ways to help me sleep and i stumble upon hibermae! And id say it really really helped me get my sleep! It does reduce the noise! And i just got my 3rd hibermate recently cos i really love it! Cant sleep without it! ❤️❤️
I have not needed to have ear muff and eye mask till quite recently so I could get a good night sleep and the Hibermate has been great. Very comfortable compared to ear plugs.
My hat size is 7 1/2. I received the hibermate yesterday, and it is too small. It applies too much pressure upon my head to be comfortable.
Also there are no instructions given for how to substitute the small ear muffs on the band.
Ordered this product as a way of blocking out partners snoring. Sadly does not work at all
I still have not received my purchased product yet. I don't understand why? I have corresponded with Chris from Hibermate many ties, he has tried to help, but I still do not have the item, what am I supposed to say or do. Very disappointed. cell # 908-930-4889
I've worn earplugs for years to escape the sound of a snoring partner. Recently though I've been getting ear infections frequently that have been attributed to them. I searched for an alternative when I found Hibermate. I've been using it for close to a week now and I love it! My only slight complaint is that sometimes after sleeping on my side I have mild discomfort from where the edge has been sitting too long but it goes away quickly after waking up. Would definitely recommendo Hibermate!
Thankfully noise at a minimum at present so have not attempted using the Hibermate for any length of time. Will do so shortly but satisfied with my purchase. Thank you
Just wanted to give some feedback on the new Hibermate which I received a couple of days ago.
Absolutely loving it so far. I started using a CPAP machine early in the year and have been using earplugs which were ok but I could still hear noise from the machine as they are not exactly quiet. I was looking for something better and stumbled across Hibermate while surfing around and decided to give it a try.
Using the pads I cannot hear my machine at all which is absolutely amazing (as well as taking care of the 'living in a unit' outside noise which was a fantastic bonus as well) . The mask totally blacks out everything and I actually lifted it up to check the time and was surprised it was a bright sunny day in my bedroom and I had slept through to 10am.
My only bit of very minor negative feedback is I must have quit a large head as I need to hook the velcro tabs almost over the top of each other at the end of the straps. If I do not do this the mask is quite tight against my eyes which is a bit uncomfortable. It is still a little bit tight even after this so I am looking at getting some extra velcro to add on the ends just to loosen it slightly but still keep it fairly firm around my head. I do not want to take away from how pleased I am with my purchase as I am probably the exception to the rule but that was one thing I did come up with.
The CPAP machine has changed my life but I was always worried about the noise, the Hibermate has eliminated that problem instantaneously. I do not write feedback often but had to say thank you for such a wonderful product.
