I bought the gen 4 because I'm a shift worker and often have a short time to sleep during the day amongst traffic and construction noise.
I found them to be highly effective for blocking out noise and even comfortable for a side sleeper! They help me get an amazing sleep when I wouldn't have got any. For extreme noises (like loud wall drilling) I use Maxrock Sleeping headphones underneath them.
I started using them on long bus, train and plane rides while travelling. Now I can't live without them!
I have to say the earmuffs don't block that much sound. Noisy neighbours or snow plows are still pretty audible. I was hoping to find an alternative to earplugs, but these don't seem to do the trick on many occasions.
Sleeping very nicely! I really love this product and it allows me to get the comfortable rest that I need,
Can hear very little when I wear it. And very comfortable.
Been searching for something like this for a while, something to replace my ear plugs which i feel are bad for my ears.
This feels really comfortable when trying on and the headband was better than i thought it would be, the flat ear pad cushions are also comfortable.
However i am a side sleeper, been reading a few reviews about this before purchase, i figured only way to know if it's good is to simply try it. For sleeping on your back they are good, but for sleeping on the side they lift your head from the pillow and i just couldn't get comfortable like that.
Perhaps a change of design to reduce the depth, if possible?
There is the idea that i read somewhere on this website, to slide a single ear muff away so that one ear is blocked by the pillow and then if you turn over you slide the opposite. Sounds like a decent idea but my pillow doesn't block much noise, i also don't like constantly having to mess around with it whilst trying to get to sleep, especially since i'm switching sleeping sides constantly!
I have actually tried using the headband along with the flat ear pad cushions minus the ear muffs, this way there is less depth and they are actually comfortable to sleep with but have way less sound reduction to the point of them being useless, but then again the cushions are not meant to reduce sound.
Agree with the other reviewer about the sticker "includes free headband", a bit unnecessary as this was part of the "Hibermate Headband".
All in all it's a decent product but didn't quite work for me.
I'm in love! I can sleep. The only probelm is that there was an odor to them that made my dog love them, too. The very first night I had them, she ate the secondary set of ear pads!
The product certainly takes the edge off noise but you can pretty much hear everything but to a lesser degree. It is comfortable for side sleeping & is great for wearing around the house esp when the neighbours dog barks - it dulls the high pitched yappiness. Great for reading and working on the computer. I have used it constantly day and night. Some instructions (in the packaging ) re assembly and the benefits of the different ear muff styles would have been useful. Thought the sticker "with free head band" was a bit odd as the headband was part of the purchase. A carry bag (as provided with the Gen 4 Hibernate) would be cool. Chris & Paula are lovely to deal with. Have since purchased the Gen 4 Hibermate for my daughter who does shiftwork.
Good product but the headband isn't really comfortable and often glide.
All in all it's a good item. Now if you're a side sleeper it may be a little uncomfortable..... If you sleep on your back then these are really good as far as comfort.
These ear muffs don't block out sounds completely, they just reduce the noise.
Are they a miracle worker..... well no, far from it.
Just remember that everyone will have a different experience so you won't know unless you try it for yourself.
