Did you sleep ok?
It’s a pretty common question.
One of the best apps for tracking your sleep (and also waking you up gently) is sleepcycle.com. I seriously love this app and have been using it for a few years now.
We have tried just about all the apps on the market – this is the best.
Apart from tracking your sleep, it also wakes you up at exactly the right time with its smart alarm.
And it really does work! I always wake up feeling amazing.
The way it works is quite straightforward.
You set the time that you want the alarm to wake you in the morning, say 7.00am.
However, between 6.30am and 7.00am the app monitors your movements and seems to know just when you’re starting to waken.
It’ll then gently initiate the alarm (you can choose the sounds) so that it tends to almost always wake you at exactly the right moment (even if it’s at 6.35am).
I always wake up feeling ready and rearing to go, rather than being ‘forced awake’ from a deep sleep by a regular ‘strict’ alarm feeling all grumpy with that, “I’ve definitely gotten out of the wrong side of the bed today” feeling.
Of course, it also allows you to tell it how you ‘feel’ you slept, before showing your sleep quality score (out of 100) it thinks you received last night…
A big sleep issue/condition effecting millions of people world-wide is sleep apnea.
I receive dozens of emails a week from (usually wives) asking whether the Hibermate can block their husband’s/partner’s snoring. The short answer is - it depends on how loud/bad it is. The Hibermate does reduce sounds, but it doesn’t magically eliminate them altogether.
There is a promising new app developed by the University of Washington which claims to be able to detect sleep apnea symptoms of patients with approx 95% accuracy.
So rather than spending the night in a sleep clinic, being hooked up to wires and machines, this new app may allow you to check for sleep apnea at home in your own bed.
There are also other apps out there that help you identify whether your / your partner's snoring is an sleep apnea problem that needs treatment.

But if I could, I’d urge you; if you snore heavily, to go for a check-up with your doctor.
Snoring is a definite indicator of sleep apnea and it’s linked to some pretty serious health issues.
Using ear plugs or a Hibermate is really like slapping a band-aid on the sleep apnea problem.
And as any medical professional will tell you, it’s better to treat the root cause, not the symptom.
If your partner is snoring heavily, they're probably not sleeping that great and feeling tired and ordinary during the day. Of course, you're likely in the same boat... So encourage your partner to seek some help.
It might just save your relationship, your sanity and maybe your partner's life. :)
