China visit to quality-check production - with behind-the-scenes video...

This morning I got up quite early and caught the MTR (Mass Transit Railway) from Hong Kong to the Shenzen border-crossing at Lo Wu. I caught up with Raymond (who owns the factory where the Hibermate is being assembled and packaged) and then went across into Shenzen.
It was a really fun day where we finalised everything concerning shipments to Amazon's FBA (Fulfillment By Amazon) warehouses/centers in the United States.
Our Amazon Shipping Plan will see about 2,400 Hibermates in 6 colours go to 3 different FBA warehouses in California, Indiana and Pennsylvania. The balance of the production run will be shipped to Melbourne, Australia which will handle the domestic (Australian) and international orders from this website for the next few months at least.
I have no idea whether the Hibermate will be a success on Amazon so we've sent a small amount from this production run to 'test the waters' and see.
Logistics company, NRR are handling the freight as they have experience delivering huge quantities of products from China to Amazon FBA for many of their other customers. Thanks Paul Hunt for taking on such a small gig.
Of course, we then headed over to the product assembly line to inspect production and the finished products. I wanted to make sure your experience when opening your package for the first time is as great as we can make it.
I will be back again next Thursday (27th November 2014) when everything is finished and ready for shipment to ensure that all the boxes are labelled properly so they all go to their correct destinations! It's complicated!
I want to thank Raymond (Founder, CEO), Danny (Production Manager) and Sunny (Hostess) at yowa.com for having me today and helping to make sure everything is running on time and to schedule. I was also very grateful to them for escorting me from the Hong Kong border to their factory and back again (with an amazing lunch thrown in along the way).
It's fun to do business in China with the right partners.
If you want to drop me a line about my supply chain or if you need help with your product being manufactured in China and then shipped to where-ever, please feel free to contact me through my contact form and I'll try my best to get back to you asap and try and help as best I can. I'm happy to pay forward - I won't ask for anything in return.
More updates to come next week...
