Does the Hibermate completely eliminate light? The Hibermate uses three layers of material to prevent light seepage. The first is the outer satin cover, the second is the 'frost bite' microfibre fabric. Sandwiched between is a layer of
wadding (or batting), which is used as padding, but it too helps prevent light getting through to your eyes. The way the mask has been designed, prevents any light getting in from the sides. You may experience a tiny amount of light seepage from under the bridge of your nose,
and if so, simply put your finger on the bridge of your nose and move it upwards
- this pushes that part of the mask into a snugger position and helps it fit
better on your face. How do I wash my Hibermate? Washing instructions are on the
washing tag on your Hibermate. However, if the text is a bit small, we'll
outline how to wash the Hibermate here. Use a warm gentle machine wash or
warm hand wash. On the first few washes, don't wash your Hibermate with whites
or light colored clothes. Please don't wash the foam ear pillow inserts. Drip
dry your Hibermate, we don't recommend drying your Hibermate in a clothes dryer.
Don't use bleach. How does your mask attach at the back? Ok, this is the most often asked
question, and I've finally got around to answering it! I've taken the photo
myself, so I apologize for the poor quality of the shot, but at least it will
help you visualize how the hibermate fastens... You can see that the mask wraps
right around your head with the super-soft micro-fibre fabric on the inside and
the satin finish on the outside (one of the adjustable ear pillows is in the
background and half of one is in the foreground - on the right). The elastic
strap is one inch (25mm) thick and it will not break or loose its
"stretchiness"! It also won't get tangled up in your hair! You might just be
able to see some blue stitching at the end of the elastic (located to the left
of the blue ribbon "tag"), on the other side has been stitched on a small
rectangle of (hooky) velcro. It's attached to the other long strip of soft
velcro stitched onto the mask itself. You can see how the mask is adjusted to
suit your personal "tightness" or "looseness" preference. Anyway, next time we
shoot some more professional promo shots, I'll make it a priority to get some
great shots of the back of the mask. For now I hope this helps!
Do the 'ear pillows' really block noise? The simple answer of course is 'yes!' But there is a bit more to it. The ear pillows are manufactured from a special foam which when compressed slightly is very efficient in blocking sound waves. Laminated to the ear pillow foam is a thin layer of
dense foam. This layer adds support to the foam, but also helps to reduce sound further. It helps to 'deflect' incoming sound waves away. In summary, the ear pillows are very good at reducing high frequency sounds (ie coins jingling) - and quite efficient at reducing low frequency sounds such as traffic rumble. The best way to see (or hear!) for yourself is to cup the palms of your hands over your ears. When the ear pillows are used in conjunction with ear plugs, the result is complete silence! Does the mask put pressure on your eyes? The hibermate does put a little bit of
pressure on the eyes, not a lot, but there is some there. As much as we'd like
to prevent it, it's very difficult to avoid. There are other masks on the market
which remove the pressure by cutting out holes where the eyes are but having
looked at them it tends to make them quite bulky and they have a habit of moving
around while sleeping. Some also have a plastic cover which is great for
relaxation, but not as good to sleep in (unless you sleep on your back). Is there any difference between mask color
and performance? No! As far as we can tell, a
forest green mask will block the same amount of light as a black mask and a red
just as much as a blue one! We haven't gone into a laboratory to test it out or
anything, the colors are just for fashion only and all our masks do a terrific
job! Question: What's the
adjustability of your masks? Answer: Thanks for the email Steve, Our regular sized masks can adjust from 21 inches
(53cm) to about 30 inches (76cm). We've built in lots of adjustability in case
people don't need to wear the removable ear pillows. Hope this helps, Chris PS. would it be ok to post
your email and my response on the FAQ page of the site? It is an excellent
question which we get quite often! Do you have an affiliate program? This one has been asked quite often in the last year or so, and finally I can say 'YES!' We've partnered up with Clixgalore and we offer a modest $USD 2.50 per sale. We enjoy terrific conversion rates and our affiliates generate good sales. Click on the banner below to find out more... Do you sell wholesale? Can I stock your mask? This question gets asked all the time!!!! The answer is sometimes 'yes' and sometimes 'no'. It all depends on our stock levels at any one time. Please email me: chris@hibermate.com for more information. I'm a bit confused about the two prices shown on your website, one in my home currency and one in Australian Dollars. Please explain? Please click here for more information about our pricing, foreign exchange rates and you. Please keep those questions coming...
